Poonam Dhir is a queer poet, playwright, Punjabi descendent, and settler from Tkaronto (Toronto) by way of Tiohtiá:ke (Montréal). Poonam’s interdisciplinary work explores identity, trauma, memory and the relationship between belief and belonging. They contemplate themes of migration, displacement and loss. Poonam completed an MFA at the Iowa Playwrights Workshop where they were an Iowa Arts Fellow. They were also a 2025 and 2023 Lambda Literary Fellow and a finalist for the 2021 PEN Canada New Voices Award, Poetry. They have been an editor and contributing editor at carte blanche, The Ex-Puritan, The Iowa Review and Arc Poetry Magazine.
