Poetry: Experimental Forms and Possibilities with Diana Khoi Nguyen

This session will closely look, listen, and read a sample of poetics that engage in image and text (including work that operate at a 3D or sculptural level) and curates a particular aural/sonic experience. “Experimental” here is understood less as work that might seem incomprehensible, and more along the lines of work that engages in something akin to scientific experiments—trying something new to see what happens. In the second half of the session, we will engage in our own experiments based on our discoveries (guided by optional generative prompts). There will be no official “workshopping” of what we make, but a joyful offering of our (dis/un)coverings.

BIO: Diana Khoi Nguyen is the author of Root Fractures and Ghost Of, a finalist for the National Book Award and winner of the 2019 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. She is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, and her video work has been exhibited at Miller ICA. A Kundiman and MacDowell fellow, Nguyen teaches creative writing in the MFA programs at Randolph College and the University of Pittsburgh.
