MWC FAQ'S
FAQ's

Why the name change?
Following Tin House Books’ acquisition by Zando in 2025, it was decided that the Workshop should operate as an independent entity. Thankfully, Tin House’s founder, Win McCormack, committed to keeping the Workshop going as a new, expanded venture, the McCormack Writing Center.

Are you still affiliated with Tin House?
While we look forward to continuing to support Tin House authors through our programming, the MWC is an independent organization no longer under the Tin House/Zando umbrella.

What does this mean for your programming?
Only growth! In addition to offering our seasonal workshops, residencies, and craft intensives, we aim to expand our online and in-person programming in Portland. Stay tuned!

Will the staff remain the same?
Yes! Lance Cleland remains Executive Director; A.L. Major remains Director of Programming. The staff also retains Yimei Shao, Autumn Fourkiller, and our Reading Fellows.

What’s going to change?
Just the name, logo, website, and (soon) merch.

Will your Summer Workshop still be taking place this year?
Yes, our historic Oregon Summer Workshop will take place this July at Reed College. Applications are now live.
