Ulysses Mugavazi is a trans writer from Zimbabwe, living on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ peoples. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and served as Editor in Chief of PRISM international and Senior Editor at Kugali Media. Ulysses was a recipient of the Mozilla Foundation’s 2023 Creative Media Awards and the keynote speaker at the 2024 Science Fiction Foundation’s Annual Conference. He writes about love, masculinity, inherited trauma, and queerness while exploring the relationship between the human and the nonhuman. His work has been published in Skew and shortlisted for The Malahat Review’s Open Season Awards.
