K Ho is a writer and photographer from Vancouver BC, unceded Coast Salish territories. Their work has appeared in The Margins – Asian American Writers’ Workshop, Resonance: Essays on the Craft and Life of Writing, PRISM International, The Fiddlehead, THEM lit, the Canadian National Arts Centre, and elsewhere. They are a 2018 VONA/Voices Fellow, a 2023 Tin House Fellow, and a graduate of the Creative Writing MFA at the University of Minnesota. They live in Minneapolis, Dakota territory, where they are working on a novel.
Project Description: Set in October 2021, Passage follows Reed Chan, a 24-year-old landscape photographer, as they embark on a cross-country road trip on the first anniversary of the death of their estranged twin brother Nicholas. Summoned to clean out the storage unit that holds Nic’s belongings, Reed must drive from Vancouver to Maine, reckoning with their buried past along the way. Passage is a transition narrative set against the moving backdrop of North America, at a time rife with racial and political tension, asking what it means to find home within and beyond the trans Asian body.
