Elizabeth Upshur (she/her) is a Black Southern writer living on Tsalaguwetiyi Land. She serves her literary community as a Contributing Editor at The Seventh Wave. Her writing on the Black female body, ecopoetics, and animal/human boundaries lives at Augur, Sweet Tea Dichtomy, and others. She has workshopped at Bread Loaf Translators, Mendocino, and is currently attending the McCormack Writing Center (formerly Tin House) to work on her manuscript in progress, zombiemaster. Her flash fiction piece, “motherfucker” was selected by Maurice Ruffin for the Gigantic Sequins Prize, and her Buffy inspired poem “Ribcage” is a 2026 Editors Choice at Arkana Magazine. She is currently working on a suite of poems about the wise woman properties of honey, and an essay examining agency and consent while learning bachata sensual as first a follow, and now as a lead.
